A Message from the President
Hello from your Langford Legion, Branch 91. As you no doubt know, British Columbia has now entered “Phase Two” of the Covid-19 pandemic. This has allowed for many more businesses and organizations like our Legion to re-open. I am pleased to advise you that as of Tuesday, June 2’nd, our Legion will once again open its doors to our valued members.
And like every other business, we too, have to re-open with what will be the ‘new-normal.” First, we will be open five days a week from Tuesday to Saturday. Our hours of operation will also be limited just as we will be limited to the total number of members and guests that will be allowed on the premises at any one time. All arriving guests will be requested to provide their name and phone number and use hand sanitizer as directed by the Legion representative on duty. Members will be expected to follow the directional arrows and ongoing social distancing will be of paramount importance. Tables and chairs have been strategically located to ensure social distancing is enforced and they shall not be moved from their current location under any circumstances.
The Legion kitchen will also open on a limited basis from Wednesday to Saturday for four to five hours per day. As with all restaurants that are re-opening, there are new protocols as to how food can be served and it is expected that all members and guests will follow these new simple rules when ordering food. Details will be provided when ordering.
Many of you play a variety of sports and games at the Legion. The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the way these games such as darts, pool and shuffleboard may be played safely. And there are also those activities that simply cannot be played at all due to those safety concerns. For those interested, I have attached the procedural document for the new protocols for these activities. I am also attaching a copy of the new “House Rules” that will be posted and must be followed at all times.
Our popular Saturday Meat draw will also commence again on Saturday, June 6th. And there will be changes here too. When members and guests arrive, they will be asked to purchase a full slate of tickets, four sets of eight draws, plus the barons of beef. All tickets for the 50/50 etc. must be purchased at time of entry. There will be no ongoing sales. Prizes for the immediate future will be in the form of Thrifty gift cards.
Finally, on behalf of the executive, I want to thank each of you for your past support of our Langford Legion and we sincerely hope to see you in the coming days for your continued dedication to our valued organization. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
