A message from the President:
November 11th, Remembrance Day
As you are no doubt aware, your Langford Legion has been carrying on many of its regular services for its members and guests since our reopening this past June. Unfortunately, many of our larger community events have had to be cancelled this year due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic.
It is on that basis that I regret to advise you that the legion will be closed on November 11th and there will be no reception this year. This has been an extremely difficult decision for your executive but as you know, we must adhere to the guidelines set out by the provincial health authority.
Following protocol in the name of our fallen soldiers, past and present, the Remembrance Day service at the cenotaph will be a private ceremony for the Legion’s Colour Party and Executive. In consultation with the City of Langford, fencing will be in place for the small service. Following that, it will be removed to allow members of the community to pay their respect.
We would also ask that for those who would like to place or buy a wreath for your organization, please bring them to the legion for placement at the cenotaph on November 11th. If you wish to purchase a wreath, please call our office at 250-478-1828 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The wreaths will be placed prior to the ceremony.
Finally, we would ask that all of our members and veterans remain safe at home on this very special day. If you wish, you will be able to watch the livestream on Facebook through the Gazette as they have agreed to video the event for us.
In closing, we do hope that you will continue to support our Langford Legion through our Poppy Campaign commencing October 30th, 2020. The legion will be open again on November 12th at noon and our kitchen is open Tuesday to Friday from 4:00pm to 7:30pm and Saturday from 1:30pm to 7:30pm.
Hopefully this time next year we will be able offer our members and the community traditional events for this very special day, Remembrance Day, November 11th.
