A Message from the President: April & May 2021

On behalf of the executive of your Langford legion, I hope all of our valued members are doing as well as can be expected as we continue to deal with the adverse effects of the Covid19 pandemic.

I sincerely wish that I had more positive news to give you regarding our legion but as you no doubt know, we have had to close our doors once again for indoor dining when the latest health orders were put in place two weeks ago. Unfortunately, those have now been extended to the end of the long weekend in May. Up to that point, we had been working hard to bring back sporting activities at the branch but to date, that too met with unsuccessful results.

On a positive note, the kitchen continues to offer special dinners for takeout so please check our website (www.rcl91.ca) for details as your support is greatly needed at this time. The branch has also applied to expand our patio to offer food and beverage service so we hope for a response soon. We will advise you when we receive word regarding the expanded outdoor service. Again, I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of you who have continued to support our branch during these very difficult months.

As we are all well aware by now, the vaccine program continues to move along as many more people are now able to register for their vaccinations. As soon as you can, I hope that each of you receives the vaccine because only then, will we all begin to return to a sense of normalcy. And hopefully, in turn, that would result in our Langford Legion staff and volunteers being able to start offering the valued services that it provides to its members and the Westshore community.

Over the course of the past year, I have had the opportunity to speak with many of you and I clearly understand the frustration and angst that you feel on occasion because of the isolation the pandemic has caused for so many. I sincerely hope that as more of us receive the vaccines, we can once again provide the many services that your legion provides.

In closing, continue to stay safe and hopefully by June, our Langford Legion doors will be open once again for you.

Norm Scott
