It is April now and gardening is started. We have a new volunteer this year who has offered to keep the gardens looking good. If you see him in the garden please say hi and thanks.

Soon we will be looking at moving the Smokers Tent farther back from the building. When we do this, we will be creating a path from the back of the building to the new smoking area. Please have patience while we do this. If there are any volunteers that can help with this move please let the office know your contact info and we will be in touch with you.

At our last General meeting, as noted in my last report, we had the discussion around the motion to allow hats to be worn or not. Just to update you the members, the motion was passed not to allow hats to be worn in the lounge or games room other than special occasions where approval must be asked prior to event. I appreciate all the members who came out to the meeting and hope this can be a regular occurrence as it showed you wanted your voices heard. Remember, an attendance of 15 members at a General meeting, excluding the Executive and Color Party should not be the only ones making the decisions for our Branch.

Now I know this next topic has been a sore point with many members in the past, but I would like to bring it to the members again for discussion. The topic is WATER. Many, many glasses of water go out over the bar and the Branch makes nothing on this product. I see no issue if it is a requirement to take medication, but we as the Branch, are trying to control our expenses when it comes to the our water bill, etc. We have now started charging $1.50 per bottle in the Auditorium. Part of this came when we served over 65 jugs of water for an event. We must remember we are a business and if we do not make sales we will have to make other changes within our operations. Further to this, we see more and more members and guests coming in who only drink water. Please let your Executive know your thoughts and come to our next General meeting where this will be discussed.

Recently, I was approached by a member telling me someone in our Branch was stating we were going to have BC/ Yukon come back in and put us under Trusteeship again. I just wanted to let you know as members this in fact is not true. I have spoken to BC/Yukon and others to clarify this rumour and it is not true at all. I would ask that before making statements out into the General membership that all facts have been verified with your Executive and President. Remember, we work as a TEAM and communicate openly to all.

Now that Spring is coming, we will be discussing Spring/ Summer hours. When teams are finished playing pool/ darts/ shuffleboard it seems the Branch becomes a ghost town. How do we keep you here? Please let us know.

Within the last month I have been looking at our membership numbers and still wonder why we have members that come in daily who have not yet paid for their 2016 membership. If you haven’t paid yet, WHY?
