April 2017 Newsletter
Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve written to you. I hope you weathered this winter out in good health. I had a wonderful vacation down in Mexico in February and have been very busy here in the office since I’ve returned.
On March 11th we had David James and Big River performing the Johnny Cash Tribute. What a great event this was and was so well attended. When events like this are well attended, it encourages us to bring in more of these kinds of shows for your entertainment. Thank you to all those who came and I hope you enjoyed the show.
Taking a look into the future over the next few months, we do not have a lot of open space for new events which is very nice to see. I believe it is important we take the time to thank all the volunteers for all the time they spend coming out and helping us around here. Our Legion is very busy, and we could not make all our events run as smooth as they do without all your help. So, thank you for all you have done and all that is to come. Remember, we are always looking for new volunteers to help take the strain off the volunteers that are putting in many, many hours each week.
Spring is finally coming and we are strating to see a few nice days here and there. Hopefully in the next few weeks we can get out to the Back 40 and get some seed down so we can have a nice lawn out there to play some games.
This is the 100th year anniversary of the Battle of Vimy. Please come out and attend our service on April 9th at 11am at Veterans Memorial Park.
We have a gentleman coming in over the next few weeks in the evenings to clean and paint the Audi walls as well as the games room and women’s bathroom walls. He will be fixing the walls in the Bar staff washrooms as well. So please be patient if there are some out of order signs up.
As many of you know every year we host a golf tournament, this year we are holding the Royal Canadian Legion 47th Provincial Golf Tournament. This event is going to be a two-day tournament on July 11th and 12th, 2017 at the beautiful at Olympic View Golf Club. Registration can be made online or at the Legion Office. Payment options are cheque, VISA/MC and we also take cash payments at the office. So pull out your clubs and come on out for a couple of great days of golf. If you are not a golfer, we will be looking for volunteers to help with all the logistics. So please come out to support our tournament.
