Message from the President - March 2026

Hello and welcome to March. In another few days, we will officially see the start of the

spring season. Compared too much of the country, many of our members and seniors

enjoyed a pleasant winter on the South Island making it so much easier to get around.

February was another very busy month at our Langford Legion. One highlight was the

two-night Valentine dinner and dance of February 13 th and February 14 th . Both nights

were sold out and everyone that attended had a great time. Hopefully, we will plan to do

it again next year!

Last month, I noted that some members have not paid their annual fees. If you haven’t

yet, please do so to retain you member benefits. It should also be highlighted that the

National Royal Canadian Legion offered free memberships for the first year to new

members in celebration of the legion’s one-hundred-year anniversary in 2026. This

could also assist branches that have declining membership.

As spring and summer approach, our legion will hold many outdoor events such as

school barbecues, Music in the Park, the Luxton Fair, and more. If you are interested in

volunteering at these events or helping in the kitchen, please contact us. Our

volunteers’ dedication makes these activities possible for our West Shore Communities.

It was also noted last month that we are currently in the process of hiring a branch

manager. The executive is still accepting resumes so if you are interested in more

information regarding the position, please contact me.

Enjoy the longer days and remember to spring your clock ahead one hour on March 8 th .

We look forward to seeing you at your Langford Legion in the coming days.

Norm Scott,

President

Welcome to February. Winter has been mild here on southern Vancouver Island to date, with longer days and better weather than much of the country. Hopefully, these conditions last as spring approaches
